Friends of Charlie is a complimentary ticket program designed to provide under-resourced students with tickets to attend a variety of live performances at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. Susan Naylor envisioned a program to honor her son Charlie by providing access and exposure to the performing arts for those who otherwise may not have the opportunity to attend a live performance. Complimentary tickets to attend performances are available for student groups and non–profit/community organizations serving under-resourced students.
In addition to unwavering support from Susan Naylor, individuals and area foundations fund this free ticket program. In 2023, more than 575 people attended Tobin Center shows with complimentary tickets through Friends of Charlie. Student groups from San Antonio, North East, and Edgewood ISDs, Boysville, Girls Inc., St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, the Children’s Shelter, and Children’s Bereavement Center are just some organizations that participate in Friends of Charlie.
